Mason: PCs talk disclosure but act secret
May 16, 2011
Alberta’s NDP Opposition leader Brian Mason is calling on the PC party to disclose the rules for its leadership contest.
“A 10-line PC news release tells us nothing about what will be happening. They brag about new rules, but provide no information. They can’t break out of their long habits of operating behind closed doors,” Mason notes.
“This highlights the need for party leadership rules to be covered by provincial legislation, and not left to the internal choices of the parties.”
“The winner of the PC leadership contest will be premier of Alberta, at least for a little while. The PCs owe it to all Albertans to fully release the rules they will be running under, so we can see who those rules favour.”
