My name is Cindy Olsen and I am the NDP candidate for Edmonton Manning. I’m very excited to have this opportunity to represent such a diverse and thriving community, and I would like to take a few moments of your time to properly introduce myself. I have been an elected representative since 2007 when I first took on the role of Catholic School board trustee. Long before becoming an elected official, however, I was already dedicated to activism on behalf of the community. I have worked with many charitable organizations including the YWCA of Edmonton, the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories, Habitat for Humanity and Ben Calf Robe School. While my current position has certainly given me valuable insight into the challenges and merits of our education system, my professional and volunteer background has provided me with ample opportunity to cultivate the skills that have made me a strong advocate for a diverse range of issues including senior’s rights, affordable housing, health care, the environment and infrastructure. I am firmly committed to addressing issues surrounding government transparency and accountability.
As your MLA candidate, I have been working tirelessly to connect with the community on a personal level so that I may hear your concerns and opinions first hand. I have so far knocked on over 1000 doors and participated in numerous community outreach initiatives. My volunteer team and I have also distributed over 3000 pieces of campaign literature. I am dedicated to the wellbeing of this community and will continue to work towards building partnerships with the many stake holders of Edmonton Manning. Together, we can create positive change and a more accountable, transparent and responsive Alberta government.
