So here's the problem.
For the past few years, while city planners have been trying to figure out how to bring people back into Yellowhead older Trail neighbourhoods, school boards moved the opposite way - closing older schools and heading for he suburbs.
While city planners pushed smart choices, walkable and mixed-use communities in mature neighbourhoods, they didn't worry about schools, despite the fact schools are considered the heart of a community. School boards, meanwhile, faced with pressure from growing suburbs, moved their capital dollars to city outer edges where demand for classrooms is growing fast.
