Trustee goes NDP

An Edmonton Catholic School Board trustee is eyeing a jump to provincial politics.
Last week, Cindy Olsen declared her intention to seek nomination for the Alberta NDP in the northeast Edmonton-Manning riding.
The one-time board chair says she has been mulling over the decision since last winter.
"I have concerns with education, I have concerns with what's happening with health care, I have concerns with what's happening with the environment," she says. "I have a really broad base of experience in terms of having knowledge on some of those issues, and I really feel that I can be a strong voice."
Olsen's credentials include 10 years as a social worker with young offenders, 10 years as president of Highlands community league, and management positions with Habitat for Humanity, Alzheimers Society, YWCA Edmonton and the Alberta Science Literacy Association.
