About Rachel Notley

Rachel Notley was born in Edmonton and lived most of her childhood in the northern Alberta town of Fairview.  She graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in political science, followed by a Law degree from Osgood Law School in Toronto, Ontario.  She has lived in Edmonton Strathcona since 2002 with her husband Lou, and their children Ethan and Sophie.

Before entering politics, Rachel worked as a Labour Relations Officer for the United Nurses of Alberta.  She has worked in a variety of positions specializing in representing employees with problems related to health and safety and workers' compensation issues.

Since being elected in 2008, Rachel has served as the NDP critic in a number of areas including, Education, Advanced Education, Children's Services, and the Environment.  She has developed a well deserved reputation as and effective and hard working MLA
