Fix the UCP’s outdated curriculum

The UCP is replacing a decades-old curriculum with an even more outdated one.

Critical Indigenous history isn’t being taught and Adriana LaGrange’s promise that every student would see themselves in her curriculum, isn’t true.

This curriculum is unacceptable in its current form. The UCP’s current draft of the curriculum is age and developmentally inappropriate, it doesn’t give room for kids to develop critical thinking skills, and its eurocentric foundation doesn’t represent the diverse communities we have in Alberta. What message does it send to Indigenous students when they are forced to memorize dates in European history for years before learning about Indigenous history in their classroom?
