Attendees to this presentation will gain a better understanding of Alberta’s deregulated electricity system. The presentation will cover deregulation in Alberta from its origin to present day. You will learn the mechanics of how the retail electricity market is dependent upon Alberta’s wholesale electricity market, and how large electricity power producers manipulate Alberta’s electricity prices at the expense of consumers.

The presentation will cover both the legislative and regulatory frameworks governing Alberta’s electricity system. The goal of the presentation is to provide attendees with a number of solutions for how to improve Alberta electricity system, and reduce costs to the consumer.
