The Chief Returning Officer for the Alberta NDP Leadership Race, Amanda Freistadt, announced that the following contestants have met the nomination requirements set out in the Alberta NDP Leadership Rules:

- Sarah Hoffman
- Gil McGowan
- Naheed Nenshi
- Rakhi Pancholi
“I extend my congratulations to all contestants for meeting the requirements for nomination. We are proud that our party has attracted so many high-quality contestants for leader,” said Freistadt. “Albertans have an opportunity to select the person who will eventually be the next Premier – a Premier who reflects the values that Albertans share.”

April 22 is the deadline to become a member of the Alberta NDP in order to vote to select the next leader. Nominees will pay a fee of $20,000 at the membership deadline, and a final fee of $20,000 at the balloting deadline of May 12. The Alberta NDP will release the number of eligible voters when the voter’s list is finalized in May.
