Alberta’s New Democrats are mourning the loss of Alex McEachern, former MLA for Edmonton-Kingsway and longtime party organizer.
Alex first ran for the Alberta NDP in the 1970s. He was elected in 1986 and re-elected in 1989, where he served until 1993.
Even after leaving office, Alex stayed active. He took on local roles, mentored candidates, and supported campaigns across Alberta. His work helped keep the party strong during tough times and laid the groundwork for future wins.
Alex was known for being determined, thoughtful, and deeply committed to public service. His belief in social democracy never wavered, and he brought that conviction to every role he held.
We are grateful for his years of service, he will be deeply missed.
Thank you, Alex.
