Alberta’s New Democrats are seeking a motivated, creative, and energetic individual for the position of Communications Officer.

Location

This position will be based in Edmonton, AB

General Description

Reporting to the Executive Director or designate, the Communications Officer will support the party’s media and communications work, with a focus on election readiness. This includes creating graphics for social media and print materials, assisting with video content, and helping implement social media strategies. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

Content Creation & Design
• Assist in designing graphics for social media and print materials
• Support video shooting and editing for digital content
• Help manage print materials
• Coordinate with vendors as instructed

Social Media & Digital Communications
• Assist in executing social media strategies
• Create and schedule posts for platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
• Help maintain website content and updates

Technical & Organizational Skills
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro)
• Willingness to learn new digital tools and processes
• Strong computer skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment & Expectations
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
• Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges
• Knowledge of the Alberta NDP and Alberta’s political landscape is an asset

Terms and Conditions

This is a full-time position. The position is governed by a Collective Agreement between Alberta’s New Democrats and COPE 397 and is classified as an S1A Communications Officer. The starting salary is $62,988.80. Alberta’s New Democrats also offer a payment in lieu of pensions and an excellent benefit package.
