About the Role

The Alberta New Democratic Party is seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Director, Organizing and Election Readiness to lead grassroots mobilization, electoral preparedness, and province-wide organizing efforts. As a member of the senior leadership team, this individual will play a central role in advancing the Alberta NDP’s strategic direction and ensuring the province is ready to win the next election.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proven organizer and leader with extensive campaign experience, a passion for people-powered movements, and the operational know-how to turn strategic goals into on-the-ground results.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Strategic Planning

• Collaborate with the Executive Director and senior team to shape party priorities and drive electoral success
• Lead the design and execution of the party’s organizing strategy across Alberta
• Set and oversee quarterly, annual, and election-cycle organizing objectives
• Work with the finance team to ensure programs and operations are well-resourced and efficient

2. Organizational Oversight & Team Management

• Directly manage a team of senior regional organizers, field staff, and riding-level organizers
• Support and train organizing teams to conduct effective voter outreach, digital organizing, and event mobilization
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure effective reporting and accountability
• Ensure ridings are equipped with sufficient volunteer capacity, data infrastructure, and organizing tools in advance of elections

3. Caucus, Candidate, & Governance Relations

• Provide regular briefings on grassroots engagement, voter contact, and election preparedness
• Support MLAs and candidates in strengthening their local organizing capacity
• Work closely with riding associations to enhance their ability to engage members and grow support

4. Nominations & Electoral Preparedness

• Ensure a transparent, inclusive, and effective nomination process
• Coordinate with the campaign team to execute field programs and Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) strategies
• Use data-driven methods to maximize voter engagement and turnout in key ridings

Qualifications & Experience

• Post-secondary degree in political science, public policy, communications, community development, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered
• Direct experience on at least two provincial and/or federal election campaigns is required; central campaign experience and other experience is a strong asset
• 5–7 years of experience in political organizing, campaign management, or grassroots mobilization, including 3+ years in a senior or leadership role
• Demonstrated ability to lead large, distributed teams and manage multi-region field programs
• Strong knowledge of field operations, volunteer engagement, and community outreach
• Experience using organizing tools and CRM platforms (e.g., NGP VAN, NationBuilder)
• Experience implementing innovative organizing tools is considered an asset
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Interview Process

The hiring process will include two rounds of interviews:

• First-round interviews will be virtual and scheduled during the week of May 19, conducted by a panel of 3–4 members.
• Candidates who advance will be invited to a second interview with Alberta NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi and 2–3 members of the senior leadership team.
