Small businesses are a major economic driver in the province, employing more than one million Albertans.
However, Alberta’s small business owners have struggled over the last few years and they deserve more help.
We’ll eliminate the small business tax to help thousands of local businesses get back on their feet and support aspiring entrepreneurs as they pursue their dreams.
That’s right. Under an Alberta NDP government, the small business tax rate will be ZERO.
This is for the Albertans who get up every day and flip over the “OPEN” sign, not just for themselves but for their families and their communities.
This is for the self-starters, the go-getters and the “never give ups”.
We will also help small businesses by committing to not raise personal income taxes, and not introduce a provincial sales tax.
According to recent surveys by the CFIB, 62 per cent of small businesses are still experiencing below-normal sales while 64 per cent are still working through pandemic-related debt, with 80 per cent of business owners still reporting pandemic stress.
Our plan will support small businesses negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, the current small business tax rate would continue to apply to regulated professional corporations, like law firms and consulting firms.
The Alberta NDP has a plan to attract $20 billion dollars in new private-sector investment and create more than 47,000 good-paying, industrial jobs across the province.
