“This was a by-election to send a message to Danielle Smith. Lethbridge residents want family doctors and a health care system that they can count on. They want action on affordability, not empty promises. And they want the UCP to get their hands off people’s CPP,” said Miyashiro. “We did it! I want to thank all of the voters in Lethbridge-West, all my volunteers, and all of the party supporters that have made all of this possible.”
“Danielle Smith and the UCP threw everything they had on this election. They spent untold amounts of money on pre-writ election. They cynically called it close to Christmas because they didn’t want busy students and families to vote. And the people of Lethbridge-West said that is not good enough. They have sent the Premier a very strong message: do not take any riding in this province for granted. They must do better,” said Naheed Nenshi, Leader of Alberta’s New Democrats.
“I want to say to the voters of Lethbridge-West: thank you for your support. Thank you for making your voice heard that you want a better future. I am so excited for Rob Miyashiro to carry on the great work of Shannon Phillips so we can really help the people of this riding see that they deserve a better future. Rob demonstrates the caliber of candidates we will run in this province, and I am so proud for him to join our team,” said Nenshi.
