“Lethbridge-West residents will finally have their chance to send Danielle Smith a message that better is possible,” said Naheed Nenshi, Leader of Alberta’s New Democrats. “Even though the Premier has cynically chosen to call a by-election just before Christmas, at the end of final exams, in the hopes that students and busy families won’t be able to vote, we know that’s not true. We’ve been on the doors for months, and citizens have been clear. They deserve better.”
“In a time when people in Lethbridge are struggling to find a local family doctor, are worried about losing their pensions, and are trying to find affordable housing, Danielle Smith’s UCP is making things worse. This by-election is an opportunity for Lethbridge-West residents to say enough is enough, we need change that will provide all of us a better future,” said Nenshi.
As a life-long Southern Albertan, Rob Miyashiro has spent 40 years serving the community, both as a city councilor and as a community advocate fighting for better health care, protecting people’s pensions, keeping our community safe and demanding better from the provincial government.
“I am so excited to run here in my city of Lethbridge to bring these voices to the legislature,” said Miyashiro, Alberta NDP candidate for Lethbridge-West.
Hundreds of volunteers have already been at doors and in the streets, and Lethbridge-West will soon be painted orange.
Advance polls will be on December 10 through 14 and election day is on December 18. Make your plan to vote and get more information at https://www.elections.ab.ca.
