EDMONTON — Alberta’s New Democrats opened the nomination today to select their candidate for the Edmonton-Ellerslie by-election. Party members in good standing who wish to apply to be a candidate may request an application by emailing nominations@albertandp.ca. The candidate will be selected by members at a vote on May 14, 2025.
“Edmonton-Ellerslie is a community full of hardworking people, and they deserve a government that is committed to making life more affordable, creating real opportunity, and building a future where everyone can thrive,” said Alberta New Democrat Leader Naheed Nenshi. “I look forward to seeing our members select a candidate who will fight for this vision and build on the strong work and dedication of those who have come before.”
The Edmonton-Ellerslie New Democrats have been preparing for a nomination contest and a strong campaign to send a message to the UCP government that better is possible.
“Now is the time for any of our members who are passionate about making a real difference to step forward,” said Alberta NDP Executive Director Garett Spelliscy. “The Constituency Association is ready for a competitive, democratic process, and we’re excited to see who will step up to lead the way for Edmonton-Ellerslie.”
Party members in good standing may contact nominations@albertandp.ca to request an application, as well as detailed information about the process for running for nomination.
The Government of Alberta is required by law to set a date for the by-election before September 24, 2025.
