Alberta has always been a leader on the world energy stage. To maintain and expand our leadership as Canada's energy superpower, we need to work hard to recruit investment and diversify our approach.
We will further pursue more technology, manufacturing, value-add, and export opportunities, building on the expertise and innovation from our energy sector. The economic and investment opportunity to move to new and sustainable energy is immense and exciting.
This will achieve regulatory certainty through predictable, streamlined systems that reward good actors and allow us to get projects off the ground fast enough to meet demand.
For projects with the potential to create good long-term jobs and lower emissions, we will establish a Major Projects Office to coordinate approvals, advance Indigenous equity relationships, and de-risk, secure, and negotiate financing.
Global market access must be at the heart of our energy strategy for all our products, in the same way Rachel Notley did to get the Trans Mountain Pipeline built – the first new oil pipeline to tidewater in 50 years!
We will also contribute to global energy security by advancing LNG projects that replace higher-emissions energy globally.
