Swimming lessons, dance class, hockey equipment, and piano lessons... all the things that make help make our children's lives fun and full have been hard to keep up with during this current affordability crisis.
The Alberta NDP have a plan to help.
Rachel Notley announced the Alberta NDP Kids Activity Tax Credit to make life more affordable for families and give kids a better future.
As the cost of living increases, Alberta parents are making difficult choices because they can’t afford all the opportunities they want for their kids.
Our plan means more opportunities for Alberta kids to learn new things, score more goals, and follow their dreams.
Through the Kids Activity Tax Credit, the Alberta NDP would establish a tax-refundable credit of up to $500 per child each year that can be applied to the cost of any recreational or extracurricular programming, including sports, music lessons or camp fees.
This means more money in your pocket after your child swimming lessons, ringette fees, science camp, guitar lessons, or climbing wall membership.
Plus, there's no extra work for parents. You will simply get your money back when you file taxes.
While the UCP make life more expensive, with rising costs in income taxes, property taxes, school fees, tuition, utility bills, and insurance, the Alberta NDP will level the playing field so that kids can enjoy more activities regardless of their family income.
