Here’s the thing about Albertans… we LOVE our parks.

When the UCP tried to sell off 175 of Alberta’s parks, Albertans fought back.

When the UCP removed the 1976 Coal Policy and allowed for coal mining in the Eastern Slopes, Albertans fought back.

We want campsites, not coal mines.

Under our plan, Albertans will be able to trust that our mountains, land, and important headwaters will be protected for generations to enjoy.

Families will also have more choice when it comes to enjoying Alberta’s lakes and natural landscapes and wildlife.

Our plan:

• Cancel the UCP’s controversial K-Pass.
• Create legislation to ban coal mining in the Eastern Slopes.
• Close loopholes in the Alberta Parks Act to prevent the UCP from “delisting” and selling parks.
• Support employment, land management, and environmental monitoring programs with Indigenous Nations and communities by investing $5 million over three years.
• Conserving more land and headwaters by increasing matching funds for the Alberta Land Trust Grant Program through a $25 million investment over three years.

The Alberta NDP will create more trails, campsites, playgrounds, warm-up shelters and amenities like fish-cleaning stations through an additional $40 million investment in parks and public lands infrastructure. This will bring the total investment to $250 million over three years.

Just like Albertans, we love Alberta's parks, and we'll make sure they're here to enjoy for generations to come.
